July 2019 Update

We're more than half way through the summer and soon school will be starting for the neighborhood children.  Thankfully, there were no forest fires this year to spoil the air in our valley.  Temperatures in July were normal with only 15 days at 100 plus. Last year there were 28 days of 100 plus.  We're looking forward to the cooler mornings of August.

Homes for Sale

The former home of Marcie Valdovino's mother, Loramae Mcgee, at 8293 Sanders Court is still listed for sale by London Properties, 559.436.4000. Also just listed by Dean Rhodus is his home at 8311 E. Sanders Ct. It is listed with Benjamin Martin Real Estate, 559.900.1600.

Watering Rules

Please water only three days per week, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Change your sprinkler controller seasonal setting to 100% for the next month.  

Water Conservation

Water usage for the month was typical for July at 90,000 gallons per household. Usage was 11% worse than the target and 3% worse than last year. Year to date usage is still 6% better than target and 16% better than last year.  Click here for a larger view.  

Upcoming Water Supply Disruptions

This past month we experienced a brief interruption in water supply when an aging motor starter tripped the breakers. That starter will be replaced with a new one in August.  In addition, the SWRCB has approved the pilot test program, see below, and the test equipment will also be installed in August. Both of these disruptions should be relatively short.  We hope to give you plenty of notice and we will try to schedule each at a time of minimal usage.

1,2,3-TCP Mitigation

The SWRCB has approved the pilot test program with some initial modifications.  A home sized granular activated carbon filtration unit will be built and installed at the well compound.  Installation is scheduled for August 8, 2019. The unit will include a timer to operate 25 minutes each hour, 24 hours per day, for 70 days to simulate an annual homeowner usage of 250,000 gallons.  Samples will be taken weekly and analyzed for the presence of 1,2,3-TCP.  A report will be written at the end of the test with the conclusions of the project and recommendations.  The report is scheduled to be completed by November 18, 2019.

Settlement funds are still in the attorney's trust account.  We have signed an agreement to place the funds with a professional fiduciary.  The funds should be transferred soon.
