Dear Member:
July Weather
It was hot and smoky most of the month. We had 26 days over 100 degrees breaking an all time record with the streak continuing into August. High temperatures were 5 degrees above normal and lows were 7 degrees above normal. In addition to the miserable heat, the Ferguson Fire near Yosemite continued to send smoke into the valley. The new Bermuda greens on the golf course didn't seem to mind the heat and smoke at all and are looking great.
Mosquitoes
Some of us received this flyer on our door knobs left by the Consolidated Mosquito Abatement District last week. There have been mosquitoes reported in our neighborhood. If you need assistance to eliminate or treat standing water around your home or to report a dead bird, call 559.896.1085. Watering Rules
Please water only three days per week, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Change your sprinkler controller seasonal setting to 90-100%. If you have a Rachio controller, the seasonal shift was made for you this morning automatically.
As most of you know, we have a sand issue that was, unfortunately, not totally alleviated with the sand filter purchased when the new tank was installed. Filters in our faucets will become plugged over time and need to be cleaned. If your flow is diminished, check the filter. Shown is a bathroom faucet sand filter clogged in just 3 months versus a clean filter.
Water usage for the month was up from June to nearly 88,000 gallons per household. It was 8% worse than the target but 7% better than last year. Year to date, we are 13% worse than the target and 15% worse than last year. Click here for a larger view.
