August Update

Dear Member:

August came and went as August's usually do with nice hot Fresno weather that makes us pine for fall.  The weather forecast for September, at least until mid-month does not sow much relief.  Cooling will come and with it a reduction in the amount water our plants need survive.  If you have a seasonal adjustment on your sprinkler controller, you should be resetting soon to 80% of normal.

Water Usage

We were not quite as thrifty with water usage as we had been.  August usage was 6% behind the target and 4% more than last August.  Year to date, we are still 14% better than last year and only 2% behind the target usage.

Floyd "Doc" Buchanan

Our neighbor and friend, Doc passed away August 11 at the age of 91. Doc built his house on Sanders Court in the late 1960's or early 70's and raised five children with his wife Molly until she passed away in 2006. Doc served as the President of Belmont Water Corporation at one time and was always interested in how the water system was faring. Doc served as Superintendent of Schools for Clovis Unified School District for 31 years.  The Buchanan Educational Center in Clovis was named after him. He was a good friend and will be missed by all who knew him.

Mainline Water Valves

Those of you with "missing" mainline water valves should be receiving a call from a representative of Costless Plumbing in the next few weeks to schedule the search for your valve.  Please contact a board member if there is an issue with the scheduling or the search.
